Steve Kokoloski is honored for his contribution to refereeing. Along with officiating, Steve also spent time as an Assessor and Coach within BAYS. Outside of soccer, Steve worked directly with Puerto Rico’s (electric) power authority for over 30 years. While working Steve learned to speak Spanish fluently, and grew to love the Puerto Rican people, culture, and country. Kokolski’s athletic roots were in football and baseball, which he played in high school. Steve began his interest in refereeing while enrolling his son Peter in youth soccer. He would talk with the officials after games and eventually becoming licensed himself, along with helping young referees to develop and pursue licensure themselves. At his memorial service, it was recalled how Steve would help young and upcoming referees who were called into action while being in over their head. He was renowned for his warm and inviting personality and always being willing to mentor.
