The site navigation utilizes arrow, enter, escape, and space bar key commands. Left and right arrows move across top level links and expand / close menus in sub levels. Up and Down arrows will open main level menus and toggle through sub tier links. Enter and space open menus and escape closes them as well. Tab will move on to the next part of the site rather than go through menu items.
Rich Filippetti is fondly remembered as the referee assignor for MAPLE and State Cup from 1994-2010. Rich began refereeing in 1988 and reached his grade 5 level, which he maintained for ten years before hanging up the whistle in 2005. In 2010, he was named the Flannery Award winner by the MSRC for long-time service to Youth Soccer. Many did not recognize him when his wife Terri wheeled him into the banquet hall. When it was time to receive his award, Rich pushed himself out of the chair to stand and address the audience. His message was that he was still around and expected referees to call him when in need of help. His willingness to mentor and assist those in need is fondly remembered. In 2012 the MSRC renamed its Assignor of the Year Award to “the Richard M. Filippetti Assignor of the Year”. Rich passed away in December 2010 at age 59. His wife Terri remains involved in youth soccer and is currently the chair for the State Cup and National Championship Series for Massachusetts. Rich’s passion for the game and ability to lead was passed on to his three children, Gregory, Rick and Katelyn who all took up refereeing.
