GENESIS REFEREE PROGRAM

Mass Youth Soccer and MSRC have collaborated to establish the GENESIS REFEREE PROGRAM to support our Town/Club organizations. This Program kicked off in January 2018 at the Mass Youth Soccer Workshop.

Mass Youth and MSRC are looking for towns/clubs to partner with us in the growth of our sport by helping recruit, develop, train, and retain referees in parallel with intown/intramural Player Development and Coach Education programs.

The Genesis Referee Program offers your organization and players these features and benefits:

  • Professional, authorized training curriculum supported by Mass Youth and MSRC
  • Defined, streamlined pathway for participant advancement via alternate USSF Grade 8 certification program at reduced cost
  • Forum to learn and share best practices and leverage resources
  • Establishment of minimum standards and consistency across all organizations using proven methods and materials        
  • Flexible and adaptable to individual town/club resources, player programs, culture and needs
  • Expanded base of qualified mentors and facilitators with path for referee advancement
  • Ongoing support and consulting from subject experts
  • Opportunities for individuals and organizations to take advantage of group discounts and bulk buying power to obtain/supply uniforms and equipment
  • Insurance coverage through Mass Youth for affiliated individuals and organizations
  • Have a voice in this and future initiatives
  • Free registration database for participants, administrators, and mentors.
  • Educate parents and coaches by making referee development of your organizational culture

COST- Neither Mass Youth nor MSRC charge a town or club to enroll in the Genesis Referee Program.​ Program costs are born by the town or club and are under the control of the town or club. Costs can vary greatly depending on whether you decide you have volunteers available or need independent contractors to facilitate your classes, act as mentors, schedule your trainees, provide a training classroom, uniform/equipment you require and who pays for it, and whether you charge participants. We will work with you to develop your program based on your resources.
