Administrator of the Year
Rob Elliott, Wilmington Youth Soccer Association

 Rob Elliott
Rob Elliott has been involved in the Wilmington Youth Soccer program as an administrator, coach and parent for several years. Rob's countless hours dedicated to the youth soccer program in his role as Vice President for development, as well as both a Head and Assistant Travel Coach in the Wilmington Youth Soccer program set him apart from other volunteers. As VP for development Rob has been instrumental in the introduction of several player and coach development initiatives as well as the hiring of a new full time Director of Coaching. Rob is described by parents of his players as "trustworthy", "knowledgeable" and the "epitome of what a youth sports coach should be"


Volunteer of the Year
Jake O'Neill, Abington Youth Soccer

For 16 years, Jake has been involved with Abington Youth Soccer, in roles as a Volunteer, At-large Board Member, AYS Vice President, Coach, Referee and Assignor. Jake began his involvement coaching his own 5 children and has coached more than 100 soccer teams whose players and families were impacted by his integrity, work ethic, his service and his commitment to make soccer fun for every child, regardless of natural ability.  Jake has made Abington Youth Soccer a place where families can expect their children to grow in skill, in respect, in responsibility and in love of the game. It is precisely by creating program value in all those areas that he has promoted the game and the program in the Abington community.


Boys Recreational Coach of the Year
Ryan Renauld, Webster Youth Soccer

 Ryan Renauld
Ryan has been coaching soccer for over 15 years after becoming involved as a teacher at Bartlett High School. Ryan has coached both male and female teams in Webster and is currently the Boys Varsity Coach for Bartlett High School. Ryan is a strong proponent of coaching for character and instills the importance of treating everybody with respect in his players. Ryan possesses a unique ability to inspire his players to do more than they think they can, in 2015 he coached the Webster Boys U19 team to an undefeated season, with the boys winning the Massachusetts Tournament of Champions in their final season together. 



Boys Competitive Coach of the Year
Scott D'Entremont, FC United, North Andover Soccer

 Scott Dentremont
Scott recently served as head coach of the North Andover FC United U14 team. As head coach, Scott led FC United to MTOC in 3 out of the past 4 years, making the semi finals on 2 occasions. In addition to his coaching responsibilities, Scott has taken on various volunteer and leadership roles within North Andover Soccer, including being responsible for Player Development. As well as recognizing Scott's passion for the game and teaching ability, players and parents on the FC United team praised Scott's commitment to sportsmanship, teamwork and respect for the game.


Girls Recreational Coach of the Year
Frank DeGeorge, Agawam Soccer Association

 

 Frank DeGeorge
Frank has been involved with Agawam Soccer for close to 10 years as both a coach and board member. In 2015 Frank was the head coach for both the GU11 and GU14 teams as well as acting as a mentor for many other coaches within the Agawam program. Frank is renowned for his dedication to the game, for ensuring his players are models of fair play and sportsmanship and his continued commitment to learning the game and developing as a coach. Frank is currently pursuing his D license and continues to coach for Agawam soccer. 

 

Girls Competitive Coach of the Year
Kate Casey, Synergy

 Kate Casey
Kate is the current coach of the GU16 Synergy and the Abington High School Girls Soccer Varsity Head Coach. Her insight, enthusiasm, and professional demeanor are wonderful assets to her team and players. Kate is a positive role model on and off the field, instilling a great sense of respect, sportsmanship and confidence in her players. The impact she has had on her team has been monumental, not only does she improve their performance on the field, but she encourages players to learn about nutrition, improve their schooling and become mentally tough. Kate is a very genuine and positive person and a deserving winner of coach of the year! 



TOPSoccer Coach of the Year Award
Dan Hastings, United Soccer of Auburn

 Dan Hastings
Dan Hastings has been the co-ordinator for United Soccer of Auburn's TOPSoccer program since spearheading the programs launch 2012. Since 2012 the Auburn program has seen exponential growth, with Dan recruiting, training and leading over 25 volunteers. Dan's passion and commitment to the TOPSoccer program were highly commended by several nominations, the growth of the Auburn TOPSoccer program is directly attributable to Dan's ability to build and develop relationships with local organizations as well as empowering his coaches to work with players from their first day with confidence. 



TOPSoccer Buddy of the Year
Sarah Conger, Holden

 Sarah Conger
Sarah is entering her 5th year with the Holden TOPSoccer program, having started as a volunteer as an 8th Grader. Since joining the program Sarah has become one of the most family-requested buddies/coaches in the program, she always places caring, compassion, safety and well-being of athletes first. Sarah played youth soccer throughout her elementary school years and represented her high school field hockey and lacrosse teams. Sarah has recently taken on and is excelling in a leadership role for the Holden TopSoccer program and has been an active recruiter and trainer of new Buddies for the TopSoccer program.

Nick Karnovsky, Brookline

 Nick Karnovsky

Nick Karnovsky is currently a student at Harvard University having graduated from Brookline High School in 2015. Nick has been a USSF qualified referee since 2008 and has refereed soccer and futsal events at local, state, regional and national levels. His passion for officiating is indisputable; every game, every training session, every clinic, Nick never gives anything less than 100% effort. Nick was recently selected as the Region 1 Young Referee of the Year, his achievements are testament to his leadership, maturity and ability to take on board and learn from constructive criticism.

 


Young Female Referee of the Year
Jessica Carnevale, Dracut

 Jess Carnevale

Jessica Carnevale will be entering her senior year at Central Catholic High School in Lawrence MA this fall. She will be attending college next year and plans to major in nursing. She runs track and field and plays lacrosse and soccer for her high school. Growing up in Dracut, MA Jessica began playing soccer at the age of five. This lead her to begin refereeing in 2009. This year she received the Female Young referee of the Massachusetts Tournament of Champions award and she plans to continue refereeing throughout her college years.

 

GOALS Program Coach of the Year
Lucy Caffrey-Maffei

 Lucy Caffrey-Maffei
2016 was Lucy's first year with the GOALS program. Lucy has played soccer since she was in 3rd grade. Beginning in travel leagues and moving to club as a seventh grader. Lucy played varsity soccer throughout high school and stays active in the game at college with pickup games and the intramural league. Lucy's favorite part about the GOALS program was being able to play soccer with the kids every day and watching them develop an increased interest in the game over the weeks. Lucy is a current student at Temple University and will be studying abroad in Spain during 2016.

Seth Coven

 Seth Coven
Seth has worked within the GOALS program for 2 years and recently graduated from Brookline High School where he played for 4 years as a center midfielder. Seth holds a great appreciation for how the GOALS Program affords the opportunity to play organized soccer for many young boys and girls who might not otherwise have that opportunity. For Seth, the bonds that he developed with many of the kids make him want to keep coming back. Seth will never forget my final day of GOALS this past summer when a 5-year-old boy from Hawthorne hugged him and invited him over to his house for a play date. Seth is currently a freshman at Washington University in Saint Louis and continues to play club soccer.

Jordan Elster

 Jordan Elster

Jordan is a student at Salve Regina University studying Business Administration. Formerly of Sutton High School, he was an avid member in the community as a coach and camp counselor for younger soccer players. He also has been an active volunteer for the past ten years at a Kicks for Cancer soccer tournament and is looking to contrib-ute more each year. He has been a certified referee and has played soccer since the age of three. After captaining his high school team and club team he is now playing in college and continues to work at camps and clinics in the community when he is home.

Catherine Hoyt

 Catherine Hoyt

Cat played as a member of the Burlington Youth Soccer Association every year through her senior year in high school and now participates on a club team at the Uni-versity of North Carolina. Her passion for soccer grew as she took on the role as youth volunteer coach while in middle school and then in high school took on head coaching positions with the youngest of Burlington’s soccer players. Her time spent on the pitch with young athletes has helped determine her future plans as she is planning to become a Recreation Therapist working with the youth.
