Paul Levy is best known as the Executive Director of the MWRA who engineered the cleanup of Boston Harbor. He also served as President and CEO of a Harvard teaching hospital and led a turn-around that saved the hospital from bankruptcy. His greatest passion over the past two decades, however, has been coaching girls in his home town youth soccer league. Now Coach Levy has drawn upon his experiences as a chief executive and as a coach and has written Goal Play! Leadership Lessons from the Soccer Field, a practical guide to improved leadership skills.
Mike Roberto, Professor of Management at Bryant Univeristy, said "Paul Levy describes how the best leaders serve as coaches and teachers. [He] creatively blends together the lessons from two different parts of his life: the time he spent as a very successful chief executive and his many years as a youth soccer coach. If you want to be a supportive and transparent leader who gets results, you must read this book!”
Paul has pledged a portion of the proceeds from the sale of his book to Massachusetts Youth Soccer's GOALS Program. GOALS is the flagship program for Massachusetts Youth Soccer's inner-city and community outreach initiatives. It provides a safe and fun soccer camp experience free of charge to thousands of inner-city kids each summer. Paul's generosity will help us bring the "beautiful game" to kids who don't otherwise have the opportunity to enjoy it.
