MASSACHUSETTS YOUTH SOCCER
INSTRUCTIONAL STAFF
In addition to its staff of State Coaches, Massachusetts Youth Soccer also has an Instructional Staff that is composed of a diverse group of men and women who are dedicated to high ideals in sports and to the development of excellent coaches and players. Our Instructional Staff is trained to teach all of the Massachusetts Youth Soccer Coaching Courses. Most are teachers, many are college coaches, all have vast experience in the game and most of the Instructional Staff coaches have a USSF "A" or "B" license. No other organization or youth soccer company in the state can boast of a finer coaching staff.

COACHING STAFF


Massachusetts Youth Soccer is fortunate to have one of the finest Coaching Staffs in the country. Our full-time State Coaches and our part-time instructional staff Coaches are responsible for developing and providing all facets of coach and player development throughout the state.

IAN MULLINER
Technical Director

Ian Mulliner  comes to Massachusetts Youth Soccer after serving as the Director of Coaching of Illinois Youth Soccer Association for over ten years. Originally from Manchester, England. Ian has been coaching in the U.S. since 1992. He coached at St. Charles Soccer Club, Wheaton Whigs SC and founded and was Director of Coaching for Northwest United Soccer Club. As the Illinois Youth Soccer Director of Coaching, Ian was responsible for growth in the association’s Coaching Education Program and oversaw and developed the coaching curriculum for the Illinois Olympic Development Program. He was also responsible for developing a coaching curriculum for Illinois Youth Soccer’s Inner-city program. He has been involved as an instructor on US Youth Soccer and US Soccer Federation national coaching courses and is known as a vocal proponent of professional coaching development. Ian has served as the Region II Coaching Committee Chairman and a member of the National Coaching Committee for US Youth Soccer. He has served as the Region II Olympic Development Program Development Age Head Coach and also as a Staff Coach on both the Boys’ and the Girls’ programs. He holds the USSF “A” License and National Youth License, F.I.F.A Futuro III certificate, F.A. CARLA DeSANTIS
State Coach

Carla DeSantis joined the Massachusetts Youth Soccer Coaching Staff in May 2012. She brings a wealth of coaching knowledge and experience to the staff. A native of Sudbury, Carla graduated from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, where she earned All-Region, All New England and NCAA Division I All-American honors as a goalkeeper. Carla began her coaching career at Lincoln-Sudbury H.S. Then, after serving as an Assistant Coach at George Washington, she began the women's soccer program at Tulane University and served as Head Coach of the Green Wave from 1995-98. After earning her master's degree Carla also served as an Assistant Coach at Minnesota State-Mankato and then served as Head Coach of Coast Guard and UMASS-Dartmouth. She now serves as Assistant Coach at Framingham State University. Carla is a member of the Senior Coaching Staff of Region 1 Olympic Development Program. She holds both a United States Soccer Federation "A" coaching license and a Premier Diploma from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.   Carla will be the Head Coach of the U14 (1999) Girls ODP teams this year. ERIC DUDA
State Coach


Eric Duda brings a wealth of knowledge and experience, both as a player and as a Coach, to the Massachusetts Youth Soccer full-time coaching staff. He attended Bowling Green State University where he was a 3 year standout for the Falcons. While at Bowling Green, Eric was recognized as an Mid Atlantic Conference all-conference player. He then went on to play professionally for the Chicago Riot of the MISL and the Chicago Fire Reserves of the PDL.   He has coached at the youth and club levels having most recently served as the Assistant Director of Coaching for Campton United Soccer Club and Spartan FC in the Chicago, Illinois area. Eric holds a USSF A License and an NSCAA Director of Coaching Certificate. He graduated from Bowling Green with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education and has taught at the high school level. In 2012-13, Eric will act as Head Coach of the Girls U12 (2001) Massachusetts Youth Soccer ODP teams. TOMMY GEIS
State Coach

Tommy Geis joined us after spending 20 years as a Club Assistant Director of Coaching in Western PA and, for the past 4 years, as a Club Director of Coaching in Anchorage, AK.  He holds his USSF A License and National Youth License.  Tommy earned his Bachelor's Degree in Business Communications in 1992 from La Roche College in Pittsburgh.  He has worked as a coach in both the Alaska and PA West Olympic Development Programs and has worked as an ODP Staff Coach at the regional level in both Region II and IV. In 2012-13, Tommy is the Director of Massachusetts Camps and Clinics and will be the Head Coach of the Massachusetts Youth Soccer ODP Under 13 (2000) Boys teams.    Email Tommy at TGeis@mayouthsoccer.org




LYNN GUGLIUZZA 
State Coach

Massachusetts Youth Soccer welcomed Lynn Gugliuzza to the coaching staff in July 2008. Lynn is a graduate of the University of New Hampshire where she played as a Goal Keeper. Lynn holds a USSF A License and NSCAA State and Regional Goalkeeping Diplomas. She has worked as a Graduate Assistant at Boston University and Volunteer Assistant at UNH and has been on the Massachusetts Youth Soccer ODP Goal Keeper Coaching Staff. She holds a Master’s Degree in Education with a specialization in Coaching from Boston University. Lynn is currently an Assistant Coach and Goalkeeper Coach at Simmons College and in 2013 will be the Head Coach of the Under 15 (1998) Girls Massachusetts Youth ODP team.  Email Lynn at LynnG@mayouthsoccer.org





LOY URBINA 
State Coach

 Loy Urbina has had a rich experience as a youth soccer Coach and Coaching Instructor.  A member of the New Jersey Youth Soccer Association for many years, Loy was an important part of the instructional staff and the ODP staff.  His club coaching experience in New Jersey was with Match Fit FC and Pittsgrove Premier Futbol.  Loy is a Region I ODP Staff coach and in 2011 will be the Head Coach of the Mass Youth Soccer ODP Under 13 (1998) Girls' teams. He holds the USSF “A” License, the USSF National Youth License, the NSCAA Advanced National Diploma, the NSCAA Goalkeeper Level 1 Diploma and the KNVB (Royal Netherlands Football Association) International Diploma.  As a Foreign Language teacher in New Jersey for 20 years, he coached Girls and Boys High School Varsity soccer.  Loy has a Master of Education Degree in Athletic Counseling from Springfield College.
He will be the Head Coach of the U13 (2000) Girls Massachusetts Youth Soccer ODP teams this year. Email Loy at
