  | President's Cup 2009 |  There is a new US Youth Soccer national championship. The competition, called the President’s Cup, replaces the Director’s cup. This competition is open to all teams, excepted for a few exclusions, and will be a single elimination tournament held during the spring of each year. Open to teams U-14 to U-17, it will lead, with several intermediate steps, to a National final in mid July.The winner of the Massachusetts competition in each age will compete in a sub regional competition June 6 & 7 at Citizens Bank Fields with teams from Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont. In 2009 Region I Presidents Cup competition will allow the winners of the four (4) sub-regional areas to compete on Saturday and Sunday, June 20-21, 2009 at the Kirkwood Soccer Complex. The Region I Presidents Cup will consist of the following groups: Maine Connecticut New York West Delaware Massachusetts Eastern New York PA West Eastern Pennsylvania New Hampshire New Jersey West Virginia Maryland Vermont Rhode Island Virginia In Massachusetts the deadline date to enter is Saturday, January 23, 2009. The cost is $200 per team plus the teams will have to pay ½ of the referee costs for each match.The following teams will be ineligible to compete in this competition: All teams accepted to play in the Region 1 Premier League All teams accepted to play in the Region 1 Northeast Regional League The four State Cup semi finalists from the previous year in the next youngest age group All matches will be played at Citizens Bank Fields at Progin Park. Teams may self schedule the matches, however all rounds must be completed by the date established by Mass Youth Soccer ( similar to state cup). Teams are eligible to enter this competition and play in State Cup or the Massachusetts Tournament of Champions. President’s Cup matches can not conflict with either state cup matches or league matches. Seeding will be done by blind draw. This is a single elimination competition.
